How to set up your e-mail reader
General Information
If your email reader is Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, or
Netscape, you can get specific instructions on how to set up your
email reader. Click here to pick one of
these email programs.
If your email reader is not listed or for general information,
see the following.
E-mail is fairly easy to set up. There
are only a few settings required. Your e-mail program will ask for
some or all of the following:
-
For Internet Performances mail server, the
username is your FULL YourEmailName@YourDomainName. Such as
YourEmailName@<yourdomain>.com
-
POP account is your full e-mail address, such as YourEmailName@<YourDomain>.com
.
-
Connection method should be ppp or network.
-
POP3 server is the name of the mail Server that you use to
GET your e-mail. This will normally be mail.iperform.NET.
In some cases you may wish to use your local provider's server.
-
SMTP server is the name of the mail Server that you use to
SEND your e-mail. This will normally be mail.iperform.NET.
In some cases you may wish to use your local provider's server.
-
MY SERVER REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION. This option needs to
be set.
-
Save password. This will cause the program to remember
your password so you do not have to remember it and enter it.
If you are the only person using the computer, this will be
more convenient. This is not the secure setting. If you are
not the only person using the computer, or there are other
security concerns, that you should not have the email program
remember the password.
-
Leave mail on server. You should NOT leave mail on server.
There will probably be other options that you can set, but
these should get your e-mail program going.
